telc German B1·B2 Nursing
telc Deutsch B1·B2 Pflege is a scaled German language exam for nursing professionals at CEFR levels B1 and B2. It is designed for individuals who wish to demonstrate their professional language proficiency in the nursing sector. The exam tests listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills based on typical everyday nursing situations, such as conversations with patients, relatives, and colleagues, nursing documentation, reports, professional texts, and oral communication within a team. As this is a scaled exam, participants receive a certificate at either the B1 or B2 level depending on their performance. It is not possible to retake individual parts of the exam; the entire exam must be retaken if necessary.
The exam consists of a written and an oral part. Written: listening approx. 25 min., reading/language modules approx. 60 min., writing approx. 30 min. Oral: approx. 16 min. plus 20 min. preparation, usually as a pair exam. Professional situations from everyday nursing are tested.
The exam is scaled: A certificate at B1 or B2 level is issued based on the partial results. Listening/reading/language modules, writing, and speaking are assessed. To receive a certificate, at least B1 must be achieved in the speaking part; for B2, the speaking part must be at B2 level, and at least one written section must also be at B2 level.
Evaluation by telc: The written answer sheets are processed centrally, and writing and oral performance are assessed according to telc criteria. Depending on the result, you will receive the telc Certificate Deutsch B1 Pflege, the telc Certificate Deutsch B2 Pflege, or no certificate if the minimum requirements are not met.
Scaled comprehensive exam at B1 and B2 levels. Only the full exam can be booked – individual parts (written or oral only) cannot be booked separately. The exam takes place on-site in Gießen.
