telc Deutsch A2·B1 is a scaled German exam covering CEFR levels A2 and B1. It is designed for individuals who need to demonstrate their German language skills for daily life, residency, naturalization, professional recognition, or other personal and career goals.
The exam consists of a written and an oral part. Written: Reading comprehension 45 min.; language elements, reading & writing 35 min.; listening & writing 35 min.; writing 10 min. Oral: Speaking approx. 15 min., usually with 2 participants, no preparation time.
The exam is scaled: Depending on the results, participants receive a certificate at either the A2 or B1 level. Reading, listening, writing, and speaking are all assessed. To achieve the higher B1 level, performance must meet B1 standards. If the minimum level is not reached, no certificate is issued.
Evaluation is conducted by telc. Depending on their performance, participants receive a telc Deutsch A2 certificate, a telc Deutsch B1 certificate, or no certificate. The results indicate the language proficiency achieved in the tested skills.
Scaled comprehensive exam A2·B1 – only bookable as a full exam. Booking individual parts (written or oral only) is not possible for this exam format.
The certificate can be used as proof of German language proficiency for residency, naturalization, professional recognition, employers, or personal purposes. Please check with the relevant authority before booking to ensure this certificate is accepted.
