telc German B1 is a general German language examination at CEFR Level B1. It is aimed at people who wish to demonstrate their German language skills for everyday life, work, dealing with public authorities, naturalisation, job applications or other personal and professional purposes.
The examination consists of a written and an oral part. Written: Reading and language components 90 mins without a break, listening approx. 30 mins, writing 30 mins. Oral: Speaking approx. 15 mins, usually as a pair examination with 20 mins’ preparation time.
The examination is passed if both the written and oral components are passed with a mark of at least 60 per cent – at least 135 out of 225 marks for the written component and 45 out of 75 marks for the oral component. Only then will the certificate be issued. If a part of the examination is failed, a partial re-sit may be possible under telc conditions; this must be clarified at the time of registration.
Upon successful completion of the examination, participants will receive a telc German B1 certificate. If the examination is not passed, a results sheet will be issued. The examination may be retaken in its entirety; a partial retake (written or oral) is possible under certain conditions.
Non-scaled examination at Level B1, bookable as a complete examination. A written or oral partial examination may be possible if a valid previous partial result is available and crediting is permitted in accordance with telc guidelines.
This certificate confirms German language proficiency at B1 level and may be relevant for everyday life, work, job applications, dealings with public authorities, naturalisation or other procedures. Please check before booking whether this certificate is accepted by the relevant authority.
